What is the Invest in a Child Campaign?
The Invest in a Child Campaign is the main fundraising drive for Bacon Elementary. It seeks donations from families to support all the children and their many activities at our school. Our children are our most valuable assets. We have the opportunity to help them succeed and reach their utmost potential by providing the resources to support a quality education.
Why Direct Donations as a Fundraising Choice?
In the past, our fundraising campaign involved the selling of candy and wrapping paper. Although this type of campaign was successful, it was time consuming and involved parents and children soliciting and distributing products door to door. After gathering feedback the overwhelming majority of respondents requested that we move to a direct gift fundraising strategy. This allows families to contribute with little effort and 100% of the donations go directly to Bacon Elementary.
Our first two years with this type of campaign have been very successful. With little effort on the part of parents and volunteers we were able to raise nearly $8,000 each year.
Where does the money go?
- Enhance fundamental programs of Reading, Writing, History, Science, Art, Music, Physical Education and Technology.
- Provide funds for classroom grants to purchase supplies, activities, and equipment not covered by the District budget.
- Provide busses for field trips
- Support Bacon family activities such as the Fall Carnival, Ice Cream Social and Hoe Down.
What is the suggested Gift Amount?
The suggested gift amount per family is as follows:
1 Student - $50
2 Students - $75
3 or more Students - $100
Keep in mind that these are suggested amounts. Some families may be able to give more and others less. Any gift a family can afford will be greatly appreciated. A gift of $5 will allow us to purchase 100 new pencils for CSAP testing in the spring. No gift is too small.
What about company matching gifts?
Many local companies offer matching gift awards. It is a great opportunity to get local companies involved with the support of our schools. Check with your HR department and see if they offer a matching gift program.
Can I give after October 14th?
Although the giving campaign runs from August 24th through October 14th, you may make a gift donation at any time during the year. There is a lot going on at the start of the school year and we understand that it may not be the best time for some families to donate at this time. We would like to collect as much as we can by October 14th so we can set the budget for the year, however, if you would prefer to make a contribution after that date, it will gratefully be accepted.
How do I make a donation?
To make a donation, complete the form below and place it, along with your check, in an envelope. Write on the envelope, "Invest in a Child." Make sure to fill out each child's name and teacher so that each child's classroom gets credit for your generous donation. You can return the envelope in your child's Friday Folder or you may deliver it to the office. Gifts are tax deductable! Checks should be made out to the Bacon PTA.
